Petite Style: 7 Fashion Pieces to Avoid as Petite

Being 5 myself, I have had a hard time choosing my outfits. Over the years I have evolved my personal style being petite. Women with petite style can still be modest while being proportionate with their clothing and keeping a balance between the torso and legs appealing to be taller. Some fashion pieces are complete blunders for petite people even if they are on-trend as they wouldn’t go well with certain body types. So here’s a list of clothing to avoid if you are petite.

1. Thick Horizontal stripes are a big no for a Petite Style

With thick stripe, you are kinda adding a direction in the different way that wouldn’t be quite as flattering on someone who’s vertically challenged. So I avoid almost anything and everything with thick horizontal stripes

2.Big Bold Patterns:

Petite Style Guide

I wear a lot of patterns like small florals, polka dots and I love to wear something that’s a bit more feminine. But I wouldn’t really go for something that has huge bold print patterns on it. That’s absolutely not my style. These prints can be very loud and flashy to your personality. Having a small body frame can never go well with big bold prints.

3. Ankle Strap Shoe:

So for a petite style, you don’t want anything that has an ankle strap which is just going to abruptly block that line which is keeping you from being taller. So to lengthen up your whole look just having a pointed toe always helps. Shoes like pumps, block heels are preferable over ankle straps.

4.  Over-sized Bags

Oversized bags are so classy but for a petite style, it’s just going to add some visual weights. Obviously, a small body frame loaded with weights can create a weird body posture.

5. Bulky Jewelry:

Bulky jewelry with a lot of work on it can be really fascinating at times. But wearing large bangles, chunky necklaces, giant earrings are a huge fashion mistake that we short women do. So I always pick minimal, sophisticated jewelry.

6.Knee-Length Skirt

Petite Style Guide: Knee Length Skirt

A Knee-length skirt can be great for people with a short torso and long legs but definitely not for women with shorter height. The skirts that fall right into the mid-knee can be very dowdy drawing up the focus on your calves. Maxi skirts, mini skirts, or bodycon skirt can be a great option to consider for a petite side of styling.

7.Low Rise Jeans

Low rise jeans are back in the trend and I am not a big fan of those. These kinds of jeans can only look good on tall, slender women. Generally used to lengthen the torso to balance out legs. So they have a tendency to make your legs look shorter. Women with petite body types look better with high waisted jeans.

So these are all the fashion pieces that should be avoided if you have a petite body type.
